Spencer Bennett
My Name is Sempai Spencer Bennett. I am currently a 2nd Dan in Kyokushin Karate.
I began training at the age of 9, although my elder brother who is 5 years my elder began training 6 years before, so in fact kyokushin had been in my life since age 4.
My instructors on my journey have been Sensei Richard Males, Sensei lee Bennett, Shihan Gary Bufton and Shihan Robert Wicklund.
Having a close relationship with my older brother has given me the best start in the sport, constantly being trained hard throughout my life. Not forgetting being the test dummy for most techniques and vigorous training methods.
Unfortunately I have lived through the splits within the UK. Although I feel with the right instructor’s influences I have had in my life, I have been able to follow the art of kyokushin to its true form. I have had the chance to visit numerous countries competing and training, acquiring great friendships on the way.
Through networking and friendships within Kyokushin I am now affiliated with the British Kyokushinkai Karate organization. In fact I have come full circle; this was the organization I started out with when this art first came into my life.
The futures bright for me so watch this space, you still haven’t seen the best of me yet! OSU!
